Redoan Rony Returns to Cinema with “Domm” — A Powerful Survival Drama Starring Afran Nisho, Chanchal Chowdhury, and Puja Chery
Acclaimed director Redoan Rony is set to make his highly anticipated comeback to the silver screen with his upcoming survival drama “Domm”. The film stars three of Bangladesh’s biggest names — Afran Nisho, Chanchal Chowdhury, and Puja Chery — and is jointly produced by Alpha i and Chorki. Scheduled for release on Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, the movie will be filmed primarily in the breathtaking yet harsh landscapes of Kazakhstan.
At the mahurat ceremony held at the Gulshan Shooting Club on Sunday (September 29), Rony shared insights into his ambitious new project. He described “Domm” as a film inspired by real-life events — one that will push both the physical and emotional limits of its cast.
“This film demands incredible stamina,” said Rony. “We chose Kazakhstan for its unforgiving weather and rugged terrain — it gives the story the authenticity it deserves.”
Afran Nisho, who plays one of the lead roles, expressed excitement about collaborating with Rony for the first time.
“Rony bhai is returning to cinema after several years, and it’s an honor to be part of his comeback project,” Nisho said. “The story is deeply layered and beautifully written. I’m proud to be working with this talented team.”
Meanwhile, Chanchal Chowdhury, known for his trademark humor, teased the film’s intensity.
“We’re holding our breath until ‘Domm’ reaches the audience — then we’ll let it all out,” he quipped.
For Puja Chery, “Domm” marks a milestone in her acting career.
“This is my first project with Nisho bhai and my second time working with Chanchal bhai since my childhood acting days,” Puja shared. “I had to audition for this role, and it took a lot of hard work to earn it. I’m determined to give my best.”
Producer Shahriar Shakil explained that the project took time to launch due to the script’s demanding nature.
“The delay happened only because of the complexity of the story,” he said. “It’s an ambitious film, and we wanted to be completely prepared before starting production. Our goal is to release it next Eid-ul-Fitr.”
“Domm” is Redoan Rony’s third feature film, following his National Film Award-winning debut “Chorabali”. Over the years, Rony has also become a household name in Bangladeshi television through hit series like “House Full”, “FnF”, and “Pata Jhorar Din”.
Speaking about his inspiration for returning to the big screen, Rony said:
“When I read the script of ‘Domm’, I immediately felt that this was the story I needed to tell. It’s powerful, emotional, and deeply human.”
The mahurat event itself was a spectacle. Actress Puja Chery made a dramatic entrance in traditional bridal attire, carried on a palanquin by four attendants. On stage, co-stars Afran Nisho and Chanchal Chowdhury welcomed her with applause, symbolizing the grand beginning of one of the most anticipated Bangladeshi films of 2025.
